What We Do with Bad People

adapted from a shiur by Alan Jay Sufrin, adapted from a shiur by Rebbe Nachman of Breslov

Don’t run away.

Deal with this person
until you find
something good.

Seek out
the part about them
still unturned

At some point
we were infants
who have offended no one

and if now
as an adult
someone is evil

you must go back
to that infancy

[sc name="ad-300x600"]

and once you have found
that sliver of good
they are no longer completely evil

if you can find
that good thing
you can change them entirely

to do this
is every person’s
responsibility

and until
they do penance
you have redeemed them

and if I can do this
for another

I must do it
even more so
for myself
