Levi Robin: “I’ll Follow You” – The Hevria Sessions

Welcome to the first of many video posts in a series we will be calling the Hevria Sessions.  These will be live songs we’ve videoed of some of the Jewish musicians we are most excited about, and which we believe truly embody the Hevria spirit of “positive creation in a spiritual context”.

Our first musician: Levi Robin, who you might have seen opening for Matisyahu over the last few years or during one of his sold-out shows in New York City.  Levi Robin is a true artist in every sense of the word, and we are so honored to open our new series with him.  In this video, he’ll be performing his new song, “I’ll Follow You”.

Stay tuned every Monday for a new Hevria Session!

The Lyrics:

I told her the money would come
You just wait and see
She says our house is almost gone
Where’s your priority

She breaks down and cries
What’s gonna be with our lives
Our youth is fleeting in the shadows
Now our baby’s crying

I said you got it all wrong
You vowed to follow me
Even into the unknown
You’d place your faith in me

[sc name="ad-300x600"]

Looking you’ll see the light
That’s on the other side of this night
All the money with be coming
with the rising of the sun’s light

My only one,
I’ll cleave to you until the sun
Will rise above the mountains
And the war we’ll have won
For now I know this has to be
Hardship and its mysteries
Oh, I’ll follow you

She says I know what I said
The promises I made
You know my love for you
Is always on my heart engraved
But I’m tired of these rags and the rain seaping through these cracks
All our kids going out grew their shoes
And go round these streets
With empty sacks

I looked into her hurting eyes
Drew my heart to realize
I had to hold her tight
Whisper in her ear
It’s alright

My only one I’ll cleave to you
Until the sun
Will rise above the mountains
And the war we’ll have won
For now I know this has to be
Hardship and its mysteries

Oh I’ll follow you
